In this course students will learn the nuanced process of working with the large format camera and the unique advantages it holds. Through instructor-led demonstrations, we will discuss and review the functionality of large format cameras, the potential of camera movements and their impact on composition, and how to properly develop large format black and white film. Class discussions will focus on how various renowned photographers have utilized the large format camera in their individual practice. Through class assignments and group field-based outings, students will work towards the development of their own skill and mastery of the large format camera.
