Join photographer Andrew Parsons for this four-week fashion photography workshop designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both studio photography and digital retouching workflows. Through a combination of hands-on studio sessions, guided instruction, and independent practice opportunities, participants will build confidence in creating polished, professional fashion imagery from capture to final edit.

Week 1 focuses on photo and studio fundamentals, introducing participants to essential lighting concepts, camera settings, and technical studio skills. In Week 2, students will work collaboratively in the studio with a live model, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of lighting setups while learning how to direct talent and create compelling fashion imagery. We’ll also discuss professional etiquette when working with models and what elevates an image beyond the technical.

Week 3 shifts into an intensive digital workflow and retouching session focused on Adobe Photoshop and Camera Raw. Students will learn foundational post-processing techniques including skin retouching, masking, layers, color grading, and workflow organization to create polished, professional portraits.

Week 4 concludes with additional Photoshop and retouching instruction, advanced workflow discussion, and an opportunity for participants to share selected images for feedback and group discussion.

Between sessions, participants will have the opportunity to reserve studio time at PCNW at student rental rates to continue practicing and refining the techniques covered in the workshop.

During this workshop, participants can expect to gain:

  • Confidence working with studio lighting and professional equipment
  • Hands-on experience photographing models in a studio environment
  • A stronger understanding of posing, direction, and working with talent
  • A solid foundation in Photoshop retouching and digital workflow
  • A sharper eye for fashion imagery and visual storytelling
  • Practical experience applying techniques between sessions
